Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) and/or stress urinary incontinence (SUI) are common diseases among women leading to significant quality of life impairment. The probability of incurring POP and/or SUI surgery at the age of 80 is 11.1%. Since 1996, when Ulmsten published the initial paper about retropubic tension free vaginal tape, TVT has become the most common surgery for SUI. Although, This procedure is less invasive than the traditional Burch colposuspension and autologous rectus fascial sling procedures, nowadays many countries worldwide have banned the use of vaginal meshes and slings. Thus, learning how to practice minimally invasive Burch colposuspension have become useful to continue providing care to patients suffering from SUI after conservation physiotherapy treatment.
